Contract Personnel are recruiting on behalf of our client who are a market leader in the Waste Management industry. They have nineteen (19) recyling centres across Norfolk and their coverage ranges from Kings Lynn to Caister and Thetford to Sheringham.

A rare opportunity has arisen for a small number of temporary staff to join their growing and professional team as Recycling Advisors across all locations. The successful candidates will be expected to work in various locations and due to the remoteness of those locations must have their own reliable mode of transport. Please note a travel allowance will be payable for some locations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advise and assist members of the general public to deposit waste at the recycling centre. Help ensure that the different types of waste are placed in the correct container or location. Direct the public to correct areas and draw attention to site notices where necessary.
  • Treat members of the public in a helpful manner at all times. When difficulties arise behave in a firm but courteous manner. Make sure that such events are recorded and reported. Report instances where the depositing of waste appears to be unauthorised e.g. trade waste or over the amount allowed.
  • Operate equipment to compact waste and where appropriate move waste to the correct location on site. Separate waste to help maximise the level of recycling.
  • Ensure that the site and where appropriate the approaches are kept tidy and free of litter or debris. Secure containers, which are full.
  • Wear the correct PPE at all time at all times. Work and operate equipment in a safe manner. Be alert to the safety of members of the general pubic, contractors and work colleagues. Where appropriate draw their attention to potential risks. Report any accidents or instances where there is a “near miss”. Report any defective equipment.
  • Ensure that hazardous or toxic waste is handled and stored correctly. Seek advice if unsure what to do. Deal with any spillages of hazardous liquids or liquids which could be hazardous to the environment. Follow the correct procedures for containing the spillage. Report the incident.
  • Comply with Company rules operating procedures and the Code of Conduct.
  • Report when containers are full or when they are likely to be full so that replacements can be delivered in a timely manner. Complete records required on the amount of waste received and dispatched. Ensure that subcontractors complete the necessary paperwork to remove materials from site. Enter information onto computer.

This is a unique opportunity to join an organisation who reward loyalty and can offer training and progression for the right individual.
